About Fused Glass

Did you know that the material glass has been existing for already 7,000 years, and that approximately 4,000 years ago the manufacture of fused glass was already an applied glass processing technology in Egypt?

Glass fusing is an old handcraft art which succeeds in melting down and form several glass panes artfully. Elevated temperatures of 800°C to 900°C make coloured glass panes, glass particles and/or glass powders melt with the basic glass to a fascinating unit. The original colours of the glass will be remained completely despite of the high heating. Only the individual combination of the glass elements gives the developed fused glass a new nature and spirit.

The result of this glass art is a handmade rarity of high quality convincing through its infinitely rich and fascinating formative varieties.

The compatibility of the single glasses with the other glass elements is essential for the successful fusing and the stability of the material. After melting in a special melting furnace the glass is heated up again to bring it into the requested form. The glass is softened and due to self-loaded deformation the glass object is dropped in special forms designing a new glass object.

Be inspired by the glassy illusions and dip into the world of the fused glass art.
